I have 2003 chevy silverado pickup truck engine size 305 short bed half ton. I bought it when it has 74k miles now it has 120k on it. Only change the oil on time and the brake pads almost every two years. The 305 was discontinued in 1998 before GM changed the body style to the '99-current. Your 2003 probably have the 5.3L which is 325 cubic inches. It's equipped with platinum plugs. 100k miles is the suggested tuneup mileage. I would definately change those spark plugs, maybe even wires. I would say its time to take it in for a good service though, flush fluids and what not. New air filter ect... it depends on the condition of the engine... plugs 20k? some sooner. The oil, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter should be changed at least every 3,000 miles. But as far as spark plugs go, I would have no idea. Auto parts : Recovery Kit Acura 1995 . Recovery Shackle Alfa Romeo 1996 . Reflector Audi 1997 . Refrigerant BMW 1998 . Kia . How to Change Snowmobile OilMost snowmobiles require an oil change about every 4,000 miles or every 1,000 miles with heavy usage. If your snowmobile is used in any sort of performance sport, you must replace the oil after every event. The vast majority of snowmobiles require a synthetic oil; using a mineral or semi-synthetic oil may damage your snowmobile. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Long oil pan Synthetic oil Set of wrenches Step by Step : 1 Insert the starter key into the ignition of your snowmobile and turn on the ignition. Run the engine for up to 20 minutes so the engine reaches full temperature. Upon reaching full temperature, the oil inside your snowmobile will liquefy. 2 The oil tank is generally behind the left front tire on most snowmobile models. Raised or lifted snowmobiles may have the oil tank directly in between the two bottom treads. The tank will be marked with either the word "oil" in large type or a small drawing of a droplet of oil. There will be two or three bolts on the bottom of the oil tank. Grab your wrench set and find out which one is needed for your particular snowmobile model; it's usually between 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch. 3 Use the wrench to loosen all of the bolts on the bottom of the oil tank. Remove bolts. Place the long oil pan directly beneath the oil tank. The panel that keeps the oil in place should be easily removable; just pull it off. The oil will start to drain into the pan; allow up to 30 minutes for the tank to empty. 4 When the oil is done draining, replace the drain panel and the bolts on the bottom of the tank. Find the circular metal cap on the top side of the oil tank. Unscrew this cap and pour in your chosen synthetic oil. Close the cap and make sure it is screwed on tightly. Tips & Warnings Do not attempt to change your snowmobile oil while the vehicle is running.
Kia . How to Change the Oil Filter on a 2004 Saturn IONThe 2004 Saturn ION was produced with an option of two different engines. Both the 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter in-line four-cylinders in the 2004 ION were part of the General Motors "Ecotec" engine family. The oil filter on the 2004 Saturn ION is located on the upper side of the engine toward the front of the vehicle. Removing and replacing the filter requires special tools designed specifically for the 2.0-, 2.2-, and 2.4-liter GM "Ecotec" engines. The tools for this job are available at your local GM dealership and some auto-parts stores. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need 3/8-inch drive socket, with 9-inch minimal length extension GM "Ecotec" oil filter tool kit Oil drain pan or drip pan Step by Step : 1 Lift the hood of the ION and place the hood prop rod in the designated hole in the underside of the hood. Visually inspect and locate the oil filter housing in the top-front of the engine. The filter is located toward the driver's side of the engine and may be covered by an engine dust shield. If your "Ecotec" has the removable dust shield, pull the shield directly vertical by hand to remove it for this project. 2 Install a minimum of a 9-inch extension onto a 3/8-inch drive ratchet. Install a GM "Ecotec" oil filter removal socket on the end. These sockets are specially designed for depth and exact fit onto the oil filter housing cap. 3 Attach the ratcheting assembly onto the oil filter housing cap. The housing cap has a hexagon protrusion straight upward that matches the internal measurements of the GM removal socket. Turn the ratchet counterclockwise by pushing the handle with your right hand. Place your left hand on the head of the ratchet and push straight down on the assembly. Applying the downward pressure on the ratchet head will ensure that you do not slip off the filter housing cap and damage the expensive cap. Rotate the cap counterclockwise until it comes free of the oil filter housing. 4 Pull the oil filter cap straight upward to remove it from the engine. Immediately place the oil filter cap over a drain pan. You will notice that the cap has the filter attached to its underside. There is a cylindrical center mast inside the housing cap, that hold the internal oil filter onto the cap for easier installation and removal. Pull the oil filter free of the cap and place it directly into the drain pan. 5 Install the new oil filter onto the center mast of the oil filter housing cap. Push the filter until it pops into place. Insert the filter and cap assembly back into the oil filter housing and start threading the cap back on by hand. Turn the cap clockwise by hand, until you cannot turn it any farther. 6 Use the 3/8-ratchet assembly with the extension and GM tool, to tighten the oil housing cap. Tighten the cap so that it is snug, then turn the ratchet a quarter-turn farther. Do not over-tighten the cap or you can crack the expensive cap. Tips & Warnings Your local oil change shop or auto-parts store likely has a used-oil return program to take the used motor oil off your hands for free. It's alway a wise idea to change the oil when changing the oil filter and vice-versa. This job deals with petroleum-based products. Petroleum-based products are known to be extremely flammable. Keep this entire project away from open flame, spark, static electrical charge, excess heat, and cigarette smoking. Failure to adhere to this warning could result in vehicle fire. Each movement of the piston is called a stroke. Four strokes — down, up, down, up — complete the cycle that creates the power to drive the engine. This process is aptly called the four-stroke power cycle. The four-stroke power cycle varies slightly, depending on whether your vehicle's engine is a conventional internal combustion engine, a stratified charge engine, or a diesel engine. I cover the first two here-and the diesel power cycle in Chapter 7. In a conventional internal combustion engine Here's what happens on each stroke of the piston in a conventional internal combustion engine: 1. Intake stroke: (See Figure 6-14.) When the piston moves down, it creates a vacuum in the top portion of the cylinder (where the piston was at the end of its last upstroke). Air can't get in from the bottom of the cylinder because the rings on the piston seal it off. Then the intake valves, conveniently located at the entrance of the intake manifold to the cylinder, open up and let the fuel/air mixture into the cylinder. This mixture rushes in to fill the vacuum left by the piston. Part II: What Makes It Go?. Kia . Why does a Car smoke when moves off in first gear?

The piston moves back up, compressing the fuel/air mixture into a tiny space between the top of the piston and the top of the cylinder. This space is called the combustion chamber and also happens to be where the electrode end of the spark plug enters the cylinder. The difference between the total space inside the cylinder and the space inside the combustion chamber is called the compression ratio. It indicates that the pressure has been raised from normal air pressure of 15 psi (pounds per square inch) to hundreds of psi, which makes the resulting explosion much more intense. .Chapter 6: The Fuel System: The Heart and Lungs of Your Car 1 O C At this point, the intake valves have closed, so the compressed mixture can't get out. (The intake and exhaust valves create airtight seals to ensure that nothing can get past them when they are closed.) 3. Power stroke: (See Figure 6-16.) The spark plug produces a spark across the gap between its electrodes. This spark ignites the compressed fuel/air mixture. Then the burning fuel/air mixture explodes, creating intense pressure that forces the piston down again. The power that pushed the piston down is transmitted, via the connecting rod, to the crankshaft. It then travels, via the drive train, through the clutch, the transmission, the driveshaft, the differential, and so on, to the wheels. (A quick overview of this process appears in Chapter 4.) Figure 6-16: The power stroke. 4. Exhaust stroke: (See Figure 6-17.) The piston moves up again, pushing the burned gases up with it. Then the exhaust valve opens and lets the burned gases out into the exhaust manifold. From there, the burned gasses travel through the exhaust system (which, on newer cars, includes anti-pollution devices), through the muffler, and out the tailpipe into the environment. The cylinders don't fire all at once. To keep the engine properly balanced with all that action going on, they fire in a particular order called the firing order. So while one cylinder is going through Stroke One, another will be at Kia . How many running lights does a 2001maxima have?
